Like most children are playing with their new Christmas toys, some children in Hall County are still waiting for a home.

There are about 109 children in the area of foster care or group homes, said Westlynne Benton, assistant director of Hall County Department of Family and Children's Services.

More local foster parents are always needed to care for children who have suffered abuse and neglect, he said.

"Anyone can become a foster parent," said Benton. "... We are constantly recruiting foster parents. We try to ensure that our children remain in the region so they need a home for them here."
